LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - An attempted burglary took an unusual turn in Lexington Tuesday. Police say they caught two men trying to break into a home on Simba Way around 11 a.m., but they ran off.
Police say one of the men they were chasing ended up running down Codell, and into one of the businesses in a nearby shopping center.
"I was cleaning up the mess right here and he came in the back door as it was wide open," explained worker Chris Cossette, "he runs in, says, 'someone's trying to kill me can you hide me?' So I said, 'go in this bathroom right here.' And he did."
Chris Cossette was cleaning up excess water from a leak in the back of a business Tuesday morning when a man asked him for help. Police say that man, their suspect, had a gun on him when he went inside the store.
"I was just trying to do my job, man. Things like that don't bother me," said Cossette.
Police took the man hiding in the bathroom in for questioning, and may end up charging him with attempted burglary.
