LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Members of a Lexington church are cleaning up a big mess thanks to broken water pipes.

Firefighters say a sprinkler line burst in the attic of the Kingdom Center Church on Swigert Avenue. Fire officials say the water was likely flowing for a long time before a security alarm alerted police to the break, around one Thursday morning.

"I'm sure we're not the only ones that have a problem but a soon as we can get someone out to look at the damage and take care of the problem we'll be right on it," said member, Cameron Minter.

Minter says the church is fortunate because the damage could have been much worse.

Services for Thursday night are now canceled.
