COLUMBIA, Ky. (WKYT) - Police are looking for a man they say robbed a bank, then kidnapped one of the employees at gunpoint.

Police say the robber also stole the employee's vehicle. They later found the employee uninjured.

Police say they're reviewing surveillance video from inside the bank, trying to get a clear image of the robber.

"He is to be considered armed and dangerous. He does have a firearm with him, so he would be considered armed and dangerous," said Chief Jason Cross with the Columbia Police Department.

Cross says the man walked into United Citizens Bank Monday afternoon, asked to see a loan officer, then showed the loan officer his gun. Police say he robbed the bank, kidnapped the loan officer, and stole the employee's truck.

"He took the bank employee a little ways down the road, and forced him out of the vehicle and fled once more," said Cross.

Police are afraid the robber could hurt others if he's not caught soon.

"It's not something that happens every day in small towns especially. We've got extra officers on patrol, we'll be watching for those things over the next few days," said Cross.

Police say the suspect is around 60 years old, 6'0", and weighs around 200 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he wore a camouflage hat, dark colored shirt, and blue jeans.

If you think you recognize the man, Columbia Police ask you call them at (270) 384.4119.
