Cal likes big lineup

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari is starting a big lineup now, it includes four freshmen and he likes. The move brings senior Julius Mays and sophomore Kyle Wiltjer off the bench.

After his team destroyed Eastern Michigan 90-38 in Rupp Arena Wednesday night, Calipari said he likes starting big with his shooters in reserve. "I think the rotation, the way we have it right now, maybe something I stick with for awhile. And have he (Mays) and Kyle coming off the bench, you've got scoring, and right away, when you go to it off the bench. You've got a very, very big team on the court."

Calipari said he looked at starting big and made the decision after practicing his team that way the last couple days. But a key is the play of freshman forward Alex Poythress. "Alex has to play for me to play that team. He can't come out with the energy, lack of effort that he has in some of these games."

Kentucky will not return to action until next Thursday night against Vanderbilt in Nashville. Tipoff will be at 9:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
