Calipari has no sympathy for Vandy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - John Calipari remembers being down to seven scholarship players himself last season at Kentucky, so he isn't in the mood to hear about Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings' woes right now.

Calipari says he could care less because everybody felt sorry for the Wildcats when they were down to seven.

The Commodores leading scorer Eric McClellan was dismissed for the spring semester for a violation of the school's academic policy. McClellan also faces a misdemeanor charge of theft. He was dismissed from the team after coach Kevin Stallings received new information Wednesday.

Well, those Wildcats were coming off their eighth national championship as they struggled through injuries and other issues last season. Vanderbilt helped send Kentucky off to the National Invitation Tournament by beating the Wildcats in the Southeastern Conference tournament last March.

Now the 14th-ranked Wildcats are reloaded. They visit Vanderbilt on Saturday with the Commodores down to seven scholarship players because of injuries and suspensions.

Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings says his job is to make the most of what they have.
