LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - UK coach John Calipari is looking for more from sophomore forward Alex Poythress. Poythress scored seven points and pulled down 12 rebounds last week against Michigan State, but in Kentucky's last two games his minutes have been cut in half.
"He still has a ways to go." Calipari said after UK's victory over UT-Arlington Tuesday. "But what happens is the first rain drop, when the sun's shining it's all good. All right you got a couple rain drops."
Calipari said part of it started in practice. "Had a couple bad practices, stopped playing, head down, now its carried over."
Calipari said it's all effort for Poythress but he's not the only one. "It's not just just Alex now, we've got about five guys that way right now. That's when you're 17-18 years old and you don't know better."
