LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Coach John Calipari called this season a learning experience for him and next year will be different.

Throughout the year Calipari has called for his team to play with more competitive spirit and toughness. He said this year's struggles will make him a better coach for next season. "Some of the stuff that went on that won't go on next year. Holding the bar to a higher standard, not accepting, we'll have enough guys, the bench is going to be my best friend."

Calipari said he and his staff have not given up on any individual player or the team. He believes his team is good enough to make a post season run. "Can we now get this stuff going, can we turn it? This is about when we did it two years ago."

Kentucky opens SEC Tournament play in the quarterfinals Friday night against either Arkansas or Vanderbilt. Coverage on WKYT will begin at 7:00 p.m. with Wildcat Warmup, tipoff at 7:30 p.m.

WKYT will air an SEC Tournament preview Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. First round tournament games at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville will immediately follow.
