UPDATE: Car found in pond near Lexington apartment complex

Updated: Sun 6:53 PM, Jan 13, 2013

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Police and fire crews spent hours at an apartment complex in Lexington, where a Ford Expedition was found abandoned in a pond.

It happened at the Racquet Club Apartment Complex off Crosby drive in Lexington. Fire crews and police are still investigating exactly what caused the car to end up underwater. But officials also say the car had not been reported stolen.

Neighbors crowding around the scene say they're in disbelief that something like this happened in their complex.

"I was just on my way to the gym when I saw the police and the car," explained Kenny Parker, who lives in the complex. "My first concern was if there was anyone inside the car, but it looks like everybody got out ok."

Firefighters say this is the second time in just four days that they've been called to such a situation. They say Thursday, they were called to the Firebrook neighborhood after a stolen Prius was dumped in the waters there.
