Police think a confused driver created a dangerous situation on Interstate 75.
Police spotted a red truck driving the wrong way on I-75 in Laurel County. The pickup was traveling north in the southbound lanes. The driver traveled nearly five miles into oncoming traffic, before eventually pulling over at a weigh station between Corbin and London.
"We typically don't receive those calls much, but when we do they're very serious. We have the chance of a major accident happening, and when we do, they're usually pretty serious. And it's usually from this same type of issue - a medical emergency or someone that's driving impaired," said Officer Steven Douglas, with Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement.
Police do not believe he was intoxicated. They say he is an elderly man, possibly suffering from Alzheimer's and having a medical emergency.
No one was injured.
