LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators now know what caused a Lincoln county oil spill.

About 700 gallons of crude oil leaked from a tanker truck into the Green River Wednesday.

According to the Interior Journal, the truck owner told Emergency Management that someone opened the valve on a hose connected to the truck, causing the spill.

The oil made it nearly one mile down the river before crews were able to stop it. They say drinking and well water in the area was not affected.
