DANVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - The sun is shining on Centre College on a day when the political world sets it sight on the small campus, it's a day a year in the making!
"This is kind of our opportunity to show off a bit, we are good at that! We have great people here, we are proud to be a part of this and in the commonwealth on a day like this," said John Roush, President of Centre College.
President Roush calls this game day. The most noticeable thing on campus-the security presence, as for how many officers that's top secret.
"It's really just to keep everyone safe and secure because this is an international event, we have a sitting Vice Presdient and a congressman and tons of important folks we want to make sure we keep safe," said Patrick Noltemeyer, the Associate Dean of Students.
It's estimated that Centre College will spend just over three million dollars when it's all said and done, much of that coming in private donations.
The planning has been intense right down to heating and ventilation, but its key when you turn a basketball gym into a media center.
"We have 2400 reporters stationed in there so to keep 2400 as cool as opposed to people playing ball is a big difference we had to pipe in HVAC."
Event organizers say this wouldn't be possible without the hundreds of volunteers who's job it is to direct the thousands who have taken over the campus from students to those who can't even vote yet!
"Everyone here hoping for success and the chance to have a third thrill in the ville!"
