Changes possible to Letcher County trail

LETCHER COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- A week after dozens of college students had to be rescued, after getting lost some changes could be coming to a trail in eastern Kentucky.

The group from La Salle University, in Pennsylvania, was lost for hours on Bad Branch Falls Trail, in Letcher County.

So now, emergency management leaders and the trail's nature preserve are thinking about adding maps at the base of each sign on the trail, and they could close the area during bad weather.

We want to protect the preserve and the stuff that's there and still have it accessible to the public so that it continues to be one of the leading if not the leading attraction in Letcher county.

Emergency management leaders will continue to give other suggestions and improvements by surveying the trail.
