Charges upgraded after man hit and killed by car

MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A new charge has been added to a Richmond man accused of hitting and killing another man with a car.

Jeremy Rice has been charged with murder according to Richmond Police.

Police say Rice hit 22-year-old Josh Childers with a car Saturday night.

Officials say Childers was trying to break up an argument between his sister and Rice.

Childers died at UK Hospital on Monday.

Rice was previously charged with assault.

Funeral services for Childers have also been set.

Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home. Dr. Glenn Birkett will be officiating.

Burial will follow at the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
