Chicken Festival kicked off in London

LONDON, Ky. (WYMT) - It is a big week for fall festivals and one of the biggest and most popular is underway in Laurel County.

The world famous Chicken Festival began Thursday in London.
vendors were busy selling goods and people of all ages came to enjoy the sights and smells around what's called the world's largest skillet.
The skillet requires more than 300 gallons of cooking oil. Those who keep coming back say there's a reason why.

"I just enjoy seeing the people mostly," said Bob Taylor, a Laurel County native who said he has never missed a Chicken Festival
"Of course the food, I have got to try a little bit of everything from the chicken to the beans and the sandwiches here."

The festival runs through Sunday and 8,000 pounds of chicken is expected to be served.
