Some storms are possible during the morning and afternoon on Tuesday. Damaging winds and flooding will be the main threats. With an already soaked ground, expect strong winds to easily bring down some trees.
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A child was killed in a crash that had Interstate 64 closed for hours Tuesday night.
The crash happened just before 9:00 p.m. Tuesday in the westbound lanes near mile marker 56 in Franklin County.
The Franklin County Coroner tells us the crash involved a single SUV, carrying four adults and the child.
We're told the child was ejected from the SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say the male driver was also ejected. He has been taken to UK Hospital with life-threatening injuries. We're told the front seat passenger was also taken to a local hospital, while two people riding in the back refused treatment. We're told none of them were wearing seat belts.
The coroner says the child was not in a car seat. We're told the child was around two years old. The victims' name have not been released.
A detour has been put in place around the scene until further notice. We're told the road could be closed until at least 11:00 p.m.
Police tell us a mechanical failure likely caused the crash.
