Child killed in crash

Updated: Sat 8:36 PM, Jun 23, 2012

Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly crash in Madison County.

Police say the wreck happened on Simpson Road around 10:30 last night.

Neighbors say this is a dangerous intersection.

"Well, what we have is the entrance is on a hill," said one Walnut Grove resident who did not want to be identified.

"When you pull out, you can get broadsided pulling out on the driver side," he continued.

He says something needs to be done to keep the people living there safe.

"Street lights in that area, possibly a hidden entrance sign. Maybe even a caution light in that area."

Police say that 43-year old, Richard Pojeky was driving a Nissan Maxima with a six-6-year old boy in the car. They were traveling north on Simpson Lane and turning right onto Walnut Grove Road. The Maxima turned into the path of a Ford truck and was struck in the passenger side.

Police say Pojeky had possibly injuries to the chest. The 6-year old boy was transported to UK Hospital and pronounced dead by the Fayette County coroner.

The driver of the truck, 25-year old Lewis Cole Jr. was not injured in the crash.
