BEREA, Ky. (WKYT) - Churches are known for welcoming all, but one in Central Kentucky is really taking the message to heart.
Union Church in Berea recently posted signs out front, with rainbow flags in tow, inviting people inside. The signs read "no kidding" and "no exceptions."
"All people. Gay people, straight people, white people, black people, brown people of every shape have gifts of God in them," explained lead pastor, Rev. Kent Gilbert, "we knew that we had gay and lesbian members. We knew that there were gay and lesbian members of our community, and that many of them did not feel welcome in churches, and that did not feel right to this congregation."
Chrisitan abolitionists founded Union Church more than 150 years ago.
