LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - "We just feel that one of the key things that is missing in the community is just that spiritual component," said Pastor Michael Robinson, with Total Grace Baptist Church.

Pastor Robinson and his church will be taking their message, that they care about the community, to the people they say need it most.

"We really want to make a stand, so that's our purpose," said Robinson.

Pastor Robinson acknowledged Douglass Park has been the site of some recent violence, but and it's not enough to keep them out.

"I even heard that just yesterday, there was some gunshots that were fired there. Probably around the same time that we're going to be there tonight."

Robinson continued, "So I'm trusting God, you know, he'll protect us, and use that as an opportunity to show that this is our community. We're not afraid of the things that are going on."

Total Grace Baptist Church will have their worship team singing, as well as a prayer tent set up, Robinson said, for those who need someone to talk to and pray with.

There will be activities for the kids, and eventually there will be a full service with the message delivered by Robinson himself.

The event will run from 6 to 9 tonight.
