Churches use social media for outreach

Updated: Mon 2:23 AM, Jan 28, 2013

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Some churches in south-centra Kentucky are using social media to help their outreach.

The Daily News reports several Bowling Green-area churches are using Internet resources like Facebook and Twitter to interact with interested followers.

Brandon Cannon, who is pastor at Real Life Church, says he even encourages people to have their smart phones out during services so they can post a song or a quote that they connect with as soon as they hear it.

Other churches - including LifeHouse Church and Living Hope Baptist Church - have begun using Facebook and Twitter to connect with more people.

LifeHouse Church Executive Pastor Crystal Cummings says it seems to make "the world a little bit smaller."
