The Oaks is a fun day celebrating what Kentuckians love, their horses. But if you look past the horses, you saw a lot of pink Friday. It was the fourth annual Pink Out.
While many fans came to Churchill Downs, for the Kentucky Oaks, to socialize and enjoy a day off, others used the day to show support for those who survived cancer. "I have several friends and pink is my favorite color," said one fan decked out in pink.
For many though, the day came with mixed emotions. They remembered loved ones lost to the disease. They also celebrated their life by enjoying the Kentucky tradition. "My mom had breast cancer. She is no longer with us," said Steve McDonald of Lexington who was at Churchill on Friday.
