Coat drive brings out Cal, Wildcats to greet shoppers

Customers at Man O' War Harley Davidson got a special surprise today. Coach John Calipari and members of his UK Basketball team showed up at the store.

The "Cal's Coats for Kids" coat drive is currently underway in retail stores across Lexington. The coach stopped by Harley Davidson with a handful of winter coats. It's one of the locations collecting coats for the drive, which helps families in need over the winter season.

You can bring a new or gently used jacket to Harley Davidson or to any of the Wildcat Warehouse locations in Lexington. Comfort Heating and Air on Fortune Drive is also a drop-off site.

Cal hopes they'll collect 4,000 coats this year compared to the 3,000 they collected last year. The last day to donate to "Cal's Coats for Kids" is Thursday.

Cal says he is not surprised about the amount of people who donated coats this year. He says the Big Blue Nation always rises to the occasion, "It just shows anytime you ask them to get involved whether it was Sandy relief, Haiti, and other things, that we've said, let's rally. And when the Big Blue Nation rallies, it's like a freight train coming at you."
