Coin toss decides city commission race

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A coin toss has determined who will serve on the Hurstbourne Acres City Commission.

The Courier-Journal reports that the commission seat in Jefferson County went to Lenny Miles after a quarter landed on heads.

Candidate Anita Williams had filed before Miles and so got to call it Friday as Sheriff John Aubrey flipped the quarter, but she chose tails.

It was the second coin toss to decide a race since the Nov. 6 election. A seat on the Whitesburg City Council was determined with a coin toss two days after the election.

Meanwhile, the northern Kentucky city of Walton is still trying to decide whether to hold a coin toss to determine the winner of a tied council race there.
