They are here to entertain audiences in Lexington. Shawn and Marlon Wayans, the comedic duo surprised Whole Food Market employees today when they came in to shop.
"Nothing too crazy. We weren't very busy. I know that Marlon really likes the cut fruit section. Very incognito. I think Shawn even wore his glasses, his sunglasses even when he checked out," says Kelly Anne Beile, Marketing Team Leader with Whole Foods Market.
Marlon posted to Twitter about the store hours before shopping there.
The tweet stirred up a conversation with some of our viewers.
It read:
"I love that there is a whole foods right next to my hotel in "bum expletive" Lexington, KY. This way I can get organic gluten free racism anything."
Some employees laughed about it.
"I think it was intended to be light-hearted. It's just a taste of what you'll probably see at the show because there is certainly none of that going on here," adds Beile.
Beile admits they've been on the receiving end of jokes before, "We've certainly been the butt of some jokes. And I don't think it's necessarily the store. I think, as a native Lexingtonian, I can say this. There's a perception of Kentucky that is just perceived from people from the west coast."
On 27 Newsfirst at 12:30, Barbara Bailey sat down with the Wayans brothers about their comedic act and addressed the tweet.
Marlon said, "My tweets they never make sense. They are like brain farts." He later goes on to say,"I post something ridiculous every day. What else is new."
The Wayans Brothers will be performing at Comedy of Broadway in Lexington tonight and tomorrow.
