Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) The Faith and Community Christmas Store has been such a success this season that organizers say they need more donations to help families.
The store opened Wednesday at Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road. People can shop for toys, clothes, and other items, free of charge.
The store has been packed with people since opening, and it's quickly running out of supplies.
Organizers say they don't have enough toys, children's clothes and bikes for the thousands of children they're expecting.
Betsy Cohen says it’s been a tough year for her family and they won’t have much this Christmas but they’re still giving what they can.
“This morning I asked my kids to get four things they don’t play with that were nice toys, then I went through our book collection and found some children’s books. So hopefully Santa will be good to everyone this year,” she said.
Organizers say they're accepting donations through 3 p.m. and will close for the season at 8 o'clock Friday night.
The doors will open for people without tickets from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
