MARION COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Visitation for Deputy Anthony Rakes will be today at 5:00 p.m. at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon.

A second visitation will be Saturday at eleven at Marion County High School. Rakes' funeral will follow at one, also at the high school.

Deputy Rakes was shot and killed on Wednesday during a traffic stop along Highway 68 in Marion County. State Police say Rakes was approaching the car when the driver opened fire, hitting Rakes twice in the chest. Rakes was rushed to the hospital where he died during surgery.

Police arrested 49-year Dewayne Shipp a short time later in Campbellsville. He's charged with murder. Shipp remains in the University of Louisville hospital recovering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

"He was such a compassionate person," said Rev. Bo Sherrell. "He was the same person on the job as he was off."

Later this afternoon WKYT will attend a news conference in Marion County where we expect to hear from Sheriff Jimmy Clements for the first time since his deputy was murdered.
