STANFORD, Ky. (WKYT) - School officials in Lincoln County say they are ready to roll on the new year after scrambling to install a new technology hub and relocate part of central office to a temporary facility downtown.
Superintendent Karen Hatter says the biggest challenge was re-establishing technology services, which the fire wiped out. A trailer and equipment donated by other districts now sit in a fenced in lot on the central office grounds.
While administrators work to make sure all systems are operational, the Lincoln County Public Library is collecting donations to replace preschool supplies destroyed in the fire. Those who donate will get a break on their overdue books.
“We are accepting donations of preschool items, like crayons, scissors, colored paper, construction paper. Everything they donate we’ll take a dollar off their time,” said librarian Amanda Gearhart.
Children in preschool will not start back Thursday. For those attending the Stanford preschool, decisions about where mobile classrooms will go are still being made.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Kentucky Fire Marshal.
