It's been days since John C. Buckley walked away from Fayette Circuit Court, right before a jury convicted him of rape.

Now, US Marshals have joined the search for Buckley who has been on the run since Thursday. Authorities in Jessamine County investigated a reported sighting but didn't find anything. However, police are not the only ones on alert. Community members say they are uneasy with knowing Buckley is roaming the streets.

"It's scary to think he could be right around the corner," explains Lauren Gibson, a mother of two from the Lexington area. "My husband is out of town right now, so I am even more uneasy. I most likely will not leave my house at night now just to be safe."

Police have warned the public about Buckley, especially because he has extensive training in combative and self defense tactics. "It's something you always think of, what if that happened to me? Especially with someone with his background, my little frame wouldn't be able to match against him. I am grateful you guys are out here getting the word out about this so people like me can be more aware."

Buckley was found guilty of two counts of first degree sodomy and first degree rape.

Police want to remind the public that if you see Buckley you're to call 9-11 immediately. They advise everyone to not try to approach him.
