Congressman Chandler casts his vote

We're told by polling officials at Huntertown Elementary School in Versailles that more than half of the registered voters had already been there before 9 this morning. That's exactly the kind of turnout that Congressman Ben Chandler was hoping for.

"We want a big turnout and it looks like we're gonna get a big turnout. I think the weather, from what I understand is going to be good most of the day so that's great," said Congressman Ben Chandler.

The crisp, sunny morning saw voters pouring in the gymnasium doors.
They all lined up, to cast their votes in political races at nearly every level, including for the 6th congressional district seat.
Incumbent Congressman Ben Chandler joined in.

"I feel very optimistic, of course nervous as I always am. Every time you put your name on the ballot your nervous. You can't help but be. But I feel optimistic about it, I think we've had momentum here in the last couple of weeks. And it just feels good," said Chandler.

He also had extra family support this time around.

"Our daughter voted for the first time, and I hope she voted for her daddy. I don't know, but I hope she did," Chandler laughed.

While Congressman Chandler says he'll be taking it easy today, he and other supporters will be out giving rides to those who normally wouldn't be able to make it out.
