County attorney considering charge against nurse

MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A county attorney says he's investigating a complaint from Kentucky State Police that a jail nurse refused to release a trooper from the facility for more than an hour.

Hopkins County Attorney Todd P'Pool told The Messenger that KSP Post 2 in Madisonville asked his office to file a second-degree unlawful imprisonment charge against the nurse, who is a contract worker for Advanced Correctional Healthcare.

P'Pool said the nurse allegedly ordered a deputy jailer to keep the trooper at the jail last month until the inmate's medical clearance could be verified.

Jessica K. Young, an attorney representing Advanced Correctional Healthcare, said in a March 1 letter to P'Pool that she has been in contact with Jailer Joe Blue about the issue and a plan of correction is being developed.
