Couple jumps from window to escape Laurel Co. fire

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that destroyed a home.

Neighbors tell WKYT that two adults who lived in the home on Morentown Road barely escaped the fire. Emergency officials at the scene say the couple apparently jumped out of a window to escape.

The fire broke out about 2:30 Monday morning. A neighbor says the fire was put out around four, but started back up again around six.

Laurel County firefighters responded, but told WKYT that they could not comment on a cause.

We are told that the couple who lived in the home also had a child, who was not home when it caught fire.
