Crash closes Lexington street, driver arrested

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Part of Waller Avenue was closed early Wednesday after a driver crashed into a utility pole. The driver was later arrested.

Lexington Police say the crash occurred near Crescent Avenue around 3:30 a.m.

The crash knocked out power to at least one home between between Crescent Avenue and Elizabeth Street. That section was scheduled to be closed until at least mid-morning, while utility crews worked to replace the pole and restore power.

Officials said they arrested a suspect several blocks away. Andrea Beseke, 22, was in a vehicle with deployed airbags. Beseke is charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.
