U.S. 27 reopened after serious crash in Jessamine County

JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -U.S. 27 in Jessamine County is back open after a serious crash closed part of the highway for hours.

The crash happened just before 8 a.m. Friday near Elizabeth Street.

Nicholasville police tell WKYT a man driving a car heading southbound on U.S. 27 drifted into on coming traffic and hit a truck head-on. The driver of the car was taken to UK hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.

It took crews more than six hours to cleanup the mess. Debris from the accident was scattered more than 150 feet on the roadway. Traffic was rerouted around the crash scene

Nicholasville police reopened the road around 2:15 p.m.
