SADIEVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - Hundreds were left in the dark after a violent crash knocked out power and sent two people to the hospital.

The crash happened Wednesday night around 10:30 p.m. On Cincinnati Road, just south of Sadieville, in Scott County.

Officials say the driver lost control and slammed into a utility pole. The driver was taken to UK Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger in the car was airlifted to UK Hospital. Officials say his injuries were considered life-threatening at the time. The names of those involved, nor their conditions, have been released.

Because of that crash, officials with Kentucky Utilities say nearly 700 customers were without power for several hours overnight. By 4:00 a.m., KU said power had been restored to all customers.

Police believe alcohol was likely a factor in the crash.
