Crash sends car into Lexington home

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Four people are in the hospital after a crash that sent a car into a home.

Lexington Police tell WKYT that a car was involved in a hit-and-run with an SUV on Jackson Street. Police say the driver, 21-year-old Rachel Baynham of Lexington, then raced towards East Loudon and Idlewild Court.

At that point, investigators say Baynham ran a stop sign, collided with a pickup truck and lost control.

"She was sailing through here and I knew she wasn't going to be able to make it. So I hit my brakes, but it was too late then," said Ron White, the driver of the pickup.

The car then hit a house on E. Loudon.

Two adults and two young children were in the car. All four were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The house that was hit belongs to the female driver.

Police say Baynham will be charged with leaving the scene of an accident, and three counts of wanton endangerment.

Accident reconstructionists were called to the scene a few hours after the crash.

A family friend tells WKYT that the woman in the front pasenger seat, the driver's mother, suffered several broken limbs and a collapsed lung.
