Crews out plowing, salting after overnight snow

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Across many parts of Kentucky, crews are out plowing and salting roadways.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Department of Highways District 9 reports of 11 a.m., with temperatures now above freezing, all primary “A routes” were clear and most other routes were either wet or partly covered with snow or slush in Bath, Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Fleming, Greenup, Lewis, Mason, Nicholas and Rowan counties.

Crews expect to continue pushing snow off less-traveled “C routes” for the next couple of hours, then clear shoulders, turn lanes and other areas on all routes.

Transportation officials remind motorists should drive with caution, reduce speeds, allow plenty of time to reach destinations and leave extra space between other vehicles.

Highway crews throughout many parts of Kentucky will remain on 12-hour shifts, working to clear roadways until the storm threat subsides.
