Crews responding to one Bath Co. fire spot another one

Updated: Wed 1:29 PM, Mar 20, 2013

BATH COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Investigators say two overnight fires in Bath County are suspicious.

Firefighters got a call around two Wednesday morning about a mobile home fire on U.S. 60, about four miles from Interstate 64. On their way to the scene, firefighters spotted a second fire at a two-story home.

An extra tanker and engine were called so that fire crews could work at both scenes.

Fire officials are calling both fires suspicious, in part due to the proximity of the scenes, but also because of some items found at one scene. At the two story home, fire officials found an abandoned vehicle with the keys still in it and lights on. They also found a few gas cans nearby. We're told the Bath County Sheriff's Office has since impounded that vehicle.

Both homes were vacant.

There are no reports of injuries.

If you saw anything suspicious around the time the fires started, you're asked to call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-272-7766 (27-ARSON), or you can contact Morehead Post 8 at 606-784-4127.
