Missing Harrison County man found

Updated: Sun 8:32 PM, Jul 29, 2012

It's a popular spot in Harrison County for a younger crowd. But officials are issuing a strong warning after the Robinson Dam claims another life.

"Just stay, away. It's just too dangerous," said Rejeana Craft with Harrison County Search and Rescue.

A simple but sincere and urgent request from rescuers.

"This is a very dangerous spot. If we could tell the community anything it would be do not swim here," said Craft.

Craft and other emergency responders were called to this spot Saturday night on the Licking River, to look for 23-year-old Jeremy Booker.

Booker tried to rescue a woman in trouble.

"She slipped on a rock and fell in. And then he came out on the dam a little bit and jumped in to save her," Craft said.

"From what I understand there were four that actually went into the water and one never came out," she continued.

"We searched until it was just too dangerous for us to be on the water after dark. And then resumed again at 8 'o clock this morning."

While searching the area just downstream of the dam, they found Booker's body just before ten this morning.

"The family right now is grieving over the loss of their son, and we're sending out our thoughts and prayers to them. But this didn't have to happen," said Craft. She continued, "This area is very dangerous. And if you're gonna find someplace to swim, we prefer it be a swimming pool or find a creek. But at the dam it is absolutely too dangerous. The water is a lot swifter than you think and it will pull you over in a heartbeat."

Craft tells us there was another close call just hours before, where a mother had to jump in and save her son from what could have been the same fate.
