Crime Stoppers: Expensive crime spree on stolen credit card

Police say they went on a spending spree using someone else's money. Now, Lexington Police need help finding three people who racked up more than a thousand dollars in a charges on a stolen credit card.

On June 23rd, the three went shopping with credit cards stolen from a car parked on Clays Mill Road. The suspects ran up more than $1500 in charges at a Lexington Walmart, Radio Shack, several gas stations and a Meijer.

Detectives say the two men and woman drove off in a car, possibly a Toyota Corolla.

Officers say this was a crimes of opportunity.

"We always tell the public to try and make sure you get all your valuables out of your car. Take them into your home with you. It's a recurring problem," said Detective Nate Williams with Lexington Police:

Police say being aware is the best way to combat this type of theft.

"We realize people sometimes forget things in their car, but that just gives a thief an easy opportunity."
