Crime bulletin issued on UK's campus after attempted arson

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The University of Kentucky has issued a campus crime bulletin, following an attempted arson on campus.

Around 8:50 p.m. Wednesday night, the Lexington Fire Department says an empty cardboard beer case was put under the bumper of a parked car, then lit it on fire. It happened at the Commonwealth Stadium parking lot.

"It's kind of scary because if somebody can just come in and do that to one car then why don't try to do that to everybody's car? My first thought was 'was it their car? Was it somebody else's car? Who would think of doing that?' I just couldn't even believe it," Casey Tucker, a senior at UK says.

The fire was quickly put out, and the vehicle had only minimal damage. The suspected vehicle involved is a station wagon, possibly a Saturn or Saab, dark in color with two male suspects.

UK Police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call them at (859)-257-8573.
