Crime victim hopes surveillance leads to arrests

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT)- The video is quite clear. Two unassuming young men walk into a parking garage at The Lex Apartments along South Broadway and come out with a set of golf clubs and case of energy drinks just moments later. But, police say, those items were stolen.

"It's really upsetting; I feel violated," explained crime victim Thomas Sims.

Thomas Sims says he's heard of several other car break-ins on the property where he and a number of other UK students live. In his case, the two broke into his vehicle through the back hatch. In addition to the clubs and energy drinks, he says the two also stole cash.

"My clubs are a custom set--so, like something I completed over time. They're a gift from my dad," Sims said.

While Lexington Police investigate this crime, Thomas Sims says he learned a very expensive lesson.

"Llooking back, I definatley wouldn't keep anything in your car; it's not worth it."

Sims says he's hoping someone can identify these two men and help him get his clubs back. He also says he's like the apartment complex to do a little more.

"It would be nice if there was more surveillance in the area."

If you recognize the two men in the surveillance video, call Lexington Police at 859-258-3600.
