BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Danville police are now asking anyone who may have seen a gray or silver colored van in the area of last week's triple murder to contact them.
Police Chief Tony Gray released new information about his department's investigation into the case during a news conference Monday afternoon.
Michael and Angela Hockensmith, the co-owners of ABC Gold, Games & More on South 4th Street were murdered along with Daniel Smith inside the business on Friday morning. Police say the three were shot during a robbery.
Chief Tony Gray says after re-interviewing witnesses over the weekend, it is now believed the suspect left the scene in a gray or silver van. Police say the van was parked in an alley behind Rainbow Cleaners, a business next to the store.
Chief Gray told us they do not believe any items are missing from the store, but one of the victims, Daniel Smith, who was a gold buyer was known to carry cash and he had none on him at the scene.
"Mr. Smith was at the store to purchase gold that was purchased from other individuals," explains Chief Gray, "we know that Mr. Smith had a regular schedule and that ABC was one of the frequent stops that he regularly visited."
Investigators also released a revised description of the suspect. They are looking for a white man in his 40s, possibly 50s, last seen wearing a green army-style jacket. Police now describe the suspect as having a stocky build and a yellow, dingy beard. The beard, they say, could be fake.
"We are still looking in that area for businesses and witnesses," says Chief Gray.
The ATF is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
