LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington daycare has been temporarily condemned after a car crashed into the building.

It happened around 1:00 a.m. Monday morning at the Community Action Council Early Childhood Development Center on Cambridge Drive.

Police say the driver simply lost control and crashed in the side of the building. They do not think alcohol or drugs were involved.

Officials say the damage is so extensive, the daycare won't be allowed to operate until repairs are made. Code enforcement will also need to inspect the structure.

"This is just a bump that we'll figure out how to fix. But we'll still provide, plan to provide services for the community," said Community Action Council Public Information Specialist Cameron Minter.

Minter continued, "Usually we have children in there. But due to the summer, the center, this location, was closed."

The driver suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

At this point police don't believe drugs or alcohol played a role.
