ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A man is shot to death inside his home and police are calling it murder.

Investigators have identified the victim as 50-year-old Jackie Rogers.

Rogers' uncle, Hershel Clay Hatton, found Rogers' body in the basement garage of his home on Ticky Fork Road in Estill County.

Rogers' friends and family are still in shock over his death.

"He was all around a good neighbor," said Roger's neighbor Matthew Watson, "a good upstanding individual that was always eager to help whoever he could whenever he had the opportunity and it's really a great loss."

"It tore both of us all to pieces," explained Hatton, "he was a nice guy as far as I know. You can ask anybody, anybody that I've said anything to today or anybody on this street where we live. You can ask them about him. They've never had any trouble out of Jackie at all."

"Jackie was never the type of person that seemed like would ever have a harsh word toward anybody. Everybody liked him," Watson said.

Rogers' body has been sent to Frankfort for an autopsy. State Police are investigating the case.
