Death investigation underway in Garrard County

LANCASTER, Ky. (WKYT) - A death investigation is underway in central Kentucky.

The Garrard County Coroner confirms he was called to a home on Drakes Creek, near the Lincoln County line, late Thursday night.

Kentucky State Police say that troopers responded to a home on Drakes Creek near Crab Orchard to check the welfare of the homeowner.

Family members called police because they had not heard from Ormand VanWinkle for several days and were concerned for his welfare.

VanWinkle, 64-years old of Crab Orchard, was found deceased in his residence.

The victim's body has been taken to Frankfort for an autopsy.
