Dedication planned for Constitution Square

DANVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The public will get a chance to see the new and improved Constitution Square Historic Site during a dedication ceremony this month.

The Advocate-Messenger reports it will be the first time residents have had a chance to explore the facilities since Boyle County Fiscal Court took ownership of the former state historic site last year.

Boyle County Judge-Executive Harold McKinney says the event on Oct. 16 is a way to show how much work the county has done at the site. The Danville-Boyle County Economic Development Partnership has located in the historic buildings.

Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Jennifer Kirchner says the event is also about educating people on the history of Boyle County.

Constitution Square, built in 1785, was the site of Kentucky's first seat of government.
