Neighbor saves doctor from drowning

Updated: Sun 9:17 PM, Jul 29, 2012

Dr. Abiodun Akisanya of Daniel Boone Clinic in Harlan, was playing with his son in the pool when he began to drown.

"What i didn't know at that time, was that the pool drops sharply into the deep end of the pool. Suddenly, I found myself completely under water," said Akisanya.

With no one around to help, it wasn't until his wife came outside that she saw him sinking to the bottom.

Unable to swim as well, she ran to a neighbor's home to find someone to help pull him from the water.

"Someone was banging on my door and ringing my door bell, and it was his wife. She was screaming help me he's drowning," said neighbor Michelle Brock.

Dr. Akisanya claimed that her actions made her his modern day hero.
However, Brock said there was no question about what she needed to do.

"when you know someone needs you you're going to do everything you can to help them. I never thought about not going, just like I never thought about not diving in that pool," said Brock.
