JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - We've tracked down new details about a dog found suffering and left to die in a dumpster.
Someone found the dog behind an apartment complex in Jessamine County on Wednesday.
Animal control officers tell us they've received a lot of tips, but they say they're still searching for the person who put that dog in that dumpster.
Animal control officers plan to follow up on some of their leads on Thursday afternoon.
"Anybody that does something like that to an animal, it's my belief that they are prone to also do that to humans so we take it very seriously," said Mike Cassidy, Director of Jessamine County Public Services.
Veterinarians estimate he had gone at least two days without medical care. Her wounds were infected. Now that she's recovering, she's expected to go to the Jessamine County Animal Shelter in a couple of days. The animal shelter expects bills from treating the dog to be high. They are accepting donations to help cover the cost.
