Severe thunderstorms have developed across parts of Central Kentucky. Expect more of these to develop through the evening hours.
HARLAND COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) -- Dozens of wild horses are causing some controversy on an eastern Kentucky mountain.
Sequoia energy wants to remove the horses from a former mining site in Harlan County.
The company is working on a reclamation project there, but workers say the horses are eating all the grass they sow.
But the Harlan County Humane Society wants the horses to stay put.
"Those horses are part of this community," said Marcella Chadwick. "We have people from other states to go and see these horses run wild there, so we think it is unfair for the horses."
Mining company leaders wouldn't talk on camera, but say they want to find new homes for the horses.
The humane society plans to fight any efforts to remove them.
