Some areas have picked up better than a foot of snow. We still have several more inches possible through the afternoon.
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - About 150 golfers have shown up to support a Lexington firefighter who's now in a battle for his life.
Lexington firefighter Joe Vissing found out he had stage four melanoma a little over two months ago. Since then, many in the community have been rallying around Vissing while he undergoes treatment.
Friday, groups of golfers were putting for the cause. There was a little bit of something for everyone at the benefit including a silent auction, music, and games for kids.
The day was all about having a good time while helping Vissing and his family pay for thousands of dollars in medical bills. Something Vissing says would have been much more difficult without the community's support.
"Obviously it's an emotional time," says Joe Vissing, Lexington firefighter battling cancer. "You have your ups and downs fighting this and then to see the rally of support that I have, I do get emotional. So does my wife and so do my friends. It's great to have everybody out here supporting us."
The event will continue until about 5:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Those that wish to donate to the 'Joe Vissing Benefit Fund' can do so at any Chase Bank.
