Drive to collect school supplies for tornado victims

The deadline to donate school supplies for children in West Liberty and Morgan County, whose lives were impacted by March's devastating tornado outbreak, has been extended through Friday, July 27.

The project is being led by employees of UK HealthCare and Appalachian Regional Healthcare to help the more than 1,200 school-aged children.

Donations can be dropped off at the following locations through Friday:

•UK Chandler Hospital Pavilion A Gift Shop
•UK Chandler Hospital Pavilion H Gift Shop
•UK Good Samaritan Hospital Gift Shop
•Volunteer Services Office (Pavilion A, A.01.129) Supplies can also be dropped off at the Office for Service Excellence (Pavilion H, C101

Items being collected include:

•Three-ring binders (1 inch wide to 1 1/2 inches wide)
•Flash drives - 2 gig
•College-ruled and wide-ruled notebooks
•Construction paper
•Crayons
•Colored pencils
•Safety scissors
•Paper towels
•Kleenex
•Pens and pencils
•White poster board

The school supplies will be distributed at a UKHC/ARH "Back to School Bash" on Aug. 13 from 3 to 6 p.m.
